I decided to keep them.Since I was born with them I saw no reason to remove them ,even if a doctor wanted to steal them from me.

I had mine removed when I was in first grade. Back then, it was a three day hospital procedure: First day check in, next day surgery, third day check out. Now-a-says it's more of an out-patient thing, same day service, as it were. I had a really bad sore throat for a few days after my surgery, but the really cool thing was I got to eat all the ice cream and popsicles I wanted! And my Mom had made me listen to Bill Cosby's "Tonsils" several times before I went into the hospital! I laughed my butt off and listened over and over again, even though I was nervous.
-
Yes. Would you like them?
-
Not yet.
-
Nuh uh, I've still got the little devils.
-
No ... I'm still "all me" ... with no body parts removed ... other than my balding head and the gradually vanishing hair ...
-
Yep. The doctor looked down my throat and saw $$$ when I was 5. He also looked at my adenoids. and saw $$ so I had them out at the same time. That was back in 1943 and they gave me ether which made me sicker than the operation(s) it self. I was admitted early in the AM after the farm chores were done and went home late in the afternoon so my folks could do farm chores in the evening. I got to eat ice cream right after I woke up. They had promised me I could have some after the surgery because they wouldn't let me eat breakfast. My folks seemed surprised I wanted the ice cream. I don't think they thought I would want it. I did, and I ate it all.

I seem to have had a run of strep throat lately and the doctor said if I am in the office one more time with it than he is yanking them out.
