I have a 82 Ford Diamond motor home with a high performance 351 w. (410 h.p.)engine in it that is worth more than the motor home. Should I take the engine out and try to sell it separately and junk the rest or try to sell it for what I have in the engine?

try to sell the motorhome to someone who will set it up for a deer camp. Then yank the motor and tranny out and sell them separate.

You might try to see if you can get a bite on the engine before doing anything. A lot of people interested in that specific engine might want to remove it themselves.
