I read/heard somewhere (I think on some short documentary on Blink182) that there were disagreements between Mark and Tom... something like that.

Well this is all I know. Mark and Tom where getting into arguments because Tom was spending too much time with his new band Angels and Airwaves and not enough with Blink 182. Travis didn't have any problems with Tom despite Mark having any with him so Tom quit and they couldn't handle the band without Tom so Blink 182 broke up. Now Tom is in Angels and Airwaves with their first album that came out earlier May while Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker are in the band Plus 44 and their new album will be coming out November 17, 2006. Also I heard that Tom exclaimed in a recent interview that their older band Blink 182 was an embarassment and that it was childish. He also said he would never go back and that it was just too ridiculous to be in which made me quite mad.

I heard that Tom was becoming quite full of himself as well, claiming that his music was written "through [him] by a higher power", which sounds a lot like that damn aragant "Mr Holy Music Bono" (U2). Thats quite the story tale, but i wouldn't put it past Tom. If you check out the AVA site, and read his blogs, he talks about how he is writing his best songs ever and how they will be some of the greatest songs in history. I just wish they would get back together. Just look at how amazing AVA and +44 are!!! could you imagine if they were together? Now THAT would be HOLY Music... at least to me it would.

Okay, I'm reading a lot of these an they're all wrong. All those comments are nice, but false rumors. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED... Awhile back Tom had wrote a song for the Black Eye'd Peas.. Geffen thought he did a really goo job, because that song was a hit single, and they offered him to make another band *Angels and Airwaves*.. He refused to talk to Mark, or Travis about it because he was thinking about it for a good while... Tom's manager called Mark and Travis and told them Tom had left.. That's why Tom started AVA, and that's why Mark and Travis started +44... Till this day Tom has not spoken to Mark or Travis.. And as for the other rumor of blink 182 retuning for the 2009 warped tour, that's false as well... Tom does not want to be apart of Blink182 again, although he does sing some blink182 songs at the AVA shows, they're the ones he wrote.. I hope this gets through to everyone, and everyone now understands Blink182 will most likely not ever get back together... Maybe 10years from now probably.. Good Day everyone..

ya well i heard alot of the same things from those other comments like tom wanted time off to spend with his wife and kids so mark gave it to him and when it was time to go back on tour tom wasnt ready but when they did tom acted normal with mark and travis but they couls see him changing and the last show they played on the tour in europe like the day after toms manager broke it to the band that tom didnt want to be with them talk to them and he quit and then ava came and that ended blink but ive heard that tom is really going back to his old self from early blink and he is talking to mark again and they might be planning a blink tour for somewhere in 2009

The reason Blink-1822 broke up was for many following reasons.... Tom sopposbly wanted to grow up & be mature but he still is the same and always will be..There have been many rumors about the Vans Warped tour in 2009,and all my best wishes and hope go out to them and hope they play...Blink-182 was the only punk/rock band that i loved...they were the best and will always be remembered by many others.........

I was looking it up, and the videos and articles that I read said that they went on tour and Tom was fine but not long after they got back Tom's manager called Mark and Travis and told them that Tom was done with the band and that he wanted nothing to do with Mark or Travis. I have also heard the rumors that they would be getting back together, I dont know if it's true, I'm hoping that it is. But as Ethan said, it's time to forget about it, It's done and over, they've been broken up for a couple of years now, and you can usually tell a band is over when their greatest hits album comes out. And it did. As far as them betraying the fans, they didnt, you gotta remember that they have lives too. You wouldnt stay with something that you thought was a dead end if you could help it would you? So next time you get ready to bitch about them for "betraying you" think about that, you would have done it too. Tom obviously had his reasons and we need to let it be.

OK this is what i heard.. Tom and Travis did a side project called Box Car Racer in 2001 and decided not to tell Mark, until a later date. However, Mark found out earlier and this caused tension between Mark and Tom who had been friends way longer than Mark and Travis intially. This was not the cause of the breakup but created tension and lack of trust between the two. Geffen offered Tom a solo career and while Tom was thinking, Mark and Travis found out and confronted Tom, although Tom declined the offer, it still stood as long as he was in Blink 182, it was a never ending shadow over the band. Tension grew.. Fans started to realise the lack of contact inbetween the memebers on stage and in interviews. Also on the release of their last album fans realised the band had loss their poddy sense of humour, this was all Toms influence. The tension grew into a fight and this did not end the band. Then Tom decided he would pull a fast one over on Mark and start Angels and Airwaves. But Mark coutereds his action and told Tom he was already on a side project called +44. Tom took geffens offer of a solo career but turned it into a chance to get Angels and Airwaves out there. Later Toms manager called Travis and Mark and told them Tom had left. I dont know about rumours of the Band getting back together, I hope they are true though.

Wow, its apparent that no one knows what really happened. This is the true story: When Tom and Travis were in high school they started a band called blink. They met a kid named James who wnted to join the band but they told him he would have to change his name to Mark. When he joined the band they changed the band name to blink 182 (because they met in front of locker 182). Travis later got sick with skin cancer (caused by unclean tattoo needles) and soon after passed away (rip). When Mark and Tom got into a fight over a girl they broke up the band. Tom started a band called Angels and Airwaves as a tribute to his former band mate Travis. Now you know the truth.

well from what ive been told tom wanted time off and it was given to him but during that time he put together AVA and then had the old manager call mark and tell them never to contact him, regardless what happned, i have heard about that phone call alot and i think that tom had a big secret AVA planned all along and wanted to leave travis and mark hangin, maybe he heard something about the +44 and that was his counter to make his own band, ohh and last thing, why would you make a band that sounds almost identical to blink. you all probably know some part of it but wouldnt it be great if +44 and angels and airwaves got together? they both have qualities of blink but they just arent as good alone. airwaves is too mellow but has the catchy melodies while +44 has the obnoxiousness and boldness but is missing tom's voice. if they got together it would be like one gigantic band with all their best qualities together again. they just need to settle their petty arguments because thats whats childish not their band. Tom and Mark need eachother (not in a gay way) to sound good because apart they both lack in some aspects.

Blink182. As a huge fan from the start and seeing the music talent grow between them it brought me to teers to see them break up. What they have done in their time together is nothing short of incredible. The smiles they can bring to a face when they do what they do and when you hear them play it'll give you goose bumps. I hope that +44 and AvA can step up to the Blink reputation or even half of that would be enough. But on the other hand I see why Mark says "my mouth is full of blood from trying not to speak" in the +44 song. Tom has grown put of Blink and moved on. I know it's selfish but I am angry that I will never get to see the greartest punk rock band ever to play again. To me... such waste to burn down something beautiful.

So they split up and Mark and Travis formed +44 and Tom with AVA (which btw AVA sucks huge ass donkeyballs) anyway thats pretty much it.

Their last line they ever played together was "well i guess this is growing up" from dammit. so i think plus 44 and AvA is going to keep going for a while. Recently they've gotten back on speaking terms, so hopefully they'll tour together someday in the future.

Agreed. Blink is back together now and that is all that matters. Although it is true past may affect the future just as much as the present, I believe in this band. Summer '09 is going to rock my face off. Enough said.
