When I was younger I was taught to call it Lightning bug. Some where along the way I started calling it firefly though. Here is a video of a commercial that played all the time when I was younger Louie The Lighting Bug.

The call it both firefly and lightening bug where I'm from.... never heard of them being called glow worms around here, though I heard the song a lot growing up... because they're not referred to a glow worms in this area, I always thought a glow worm was a luminescent worm of some kind... ;-)

Lightening bug. I think a glow worm is actually a different creature. I read "Glow-worms are lampyrid species wherethe female looks more like the larvae than the adult male; they are flightlessand emit light as a steady glow. Conversely the male does not emit any lightand is capable of flight." https://www.slideshare.net/johnday58367/what-is-the-difference-between-a-firefly-and-a-glow-worm
