Why would parents go street racing with their children in the back seat of the car?

There are responsible parents, and then there are ones like you describe. I don't care what their excuse is. There is absolutely no reason for endangering children in this way. Perhaps the children will be lucky enough to be removed to a good, loving home soon.

Well bearing in mind my (old) age and experience,(British National Champion UK 1973 - 1986 - over both sexes in Drag Racing) plus my youngest son is 18 and ex-National Jnr Drag Racing Champion 2006, eldest 19, ex-Nat drag champion 2005, they would love it, but we are a unique family, with all three of us being National nutters in same sport. However, pretty stupid for youngsters with babies in, they should be ........ if you know what I mean, my boyz asre lucky they have such a looney for a mum, I just make em worse! Its in our blood.......

never seen parents street race with the kiddies along. have seen parents drive through major blizzards with the kids along just to go shopping. not sure why they do that. either overconfident/careless or just plain ignorant.

The answer is in the question. "Street Racing" is illegal, unsanctioned, unregulated and life endangering to drivers and innocent bystanders. The moral ethics used in this activity obviously have little value for life, young or old.
