Im gonna have to say probably because we are our very own worst enemies!!!!

SOME say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To know that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice. -Robert Frost

Eventually. Man is his own worst enemy. The combustible engine, carbon monoxide, general pollution is catching up to humans. Natural resources are being depleted faster than can be reproduced. Not in my lifetime, maybe not in yours. But, sooner or later man will have to resort back to the basics of life, if he is to survive. I would keep a horse on standby.

if God doesn't come, we will surely do so
-
Dunno
-
the way we are going i think someday we will.
-
yeah probably.. I'm guessing God will come and take those who believe and leave the rest to deal with what humanity has done to the world.
-
I think so...

From the eternal seas he rises creating armies on either shore, Turning man against his brother, unto man exist no more. The Omen. Yes I believe the human race will destroy itself, even if God comes, because I believe God will only come until we're in deep trouble.
-
It is highly likely, though we are the highest in intellect scale in the animals species,we don't do as well in the common sense or conservation.

Ancient Europeans wrote about Ages of Man. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_Man There are also many other references to various types of world ages or Ages of Man in Hopi (worlds), Mayan (suns) and other cultures of antiquity. Giorgio de Santillana, the former professsor of the history of science, mentions approximately thirty ancient cultures that believed in the concept of a series of ages and the rise and fall of history, with alternating Dark and Golden Ages. More details of these Ages are available in the Yuga concept of the Hindus. The present age is known as Kali Yuga (age of darkness). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuga http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satya_Yuga http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/iml/iml11.htm http://www.crystallotus.com/Lemuria/04bbTheAges.htm http://homepage.mac.com/cparada/GML/AgesOfWorld.html The cycle simply repeats it self.

I have always thought the human race would destroy itself and the world

"...People who subscribe to a vengeful and violent God are drawn to this stuff (end times) on both a secular and religious level. That’s why they gather in select groups and tell themselves they are the only ones being saved from the inevitable calamity. Some of them go out into the community recruiting people with these scare tactics, like insiders inviting a select few to bomb shelters. Believing in such a god infects our entire attitudes with fearful pessimism and worldly criticism. The entire attraction of prophetic insight springs from our fearful nature, and sometimes from the morbid revenge we would like to see implemented upon others. I see little profit in prophets. I’m not sure if man chooses such prophets because fearful pessimism is a part of his natural makeup, or if fearful pessimism is a part of his makeup BECAUSE he chooses such prophets. But, just because it is a “chicken or egg” question doesn’t mean we need to keep upsetting the hen house. If such a calamity ever happens, it will be at the hands of man, not at the hands of God, and any actually “saved” will be those select few in physical bomb shelters, not those clutching a Bible, the Koran, or any other ancient document. Being saved in the metaphysical sense is guaranteed. Being saved in a physical sense is open to question. Man’s fearful nature, and the aggression it promotes, is the real danger. We created the world, and we create the present, so we also have the power to create the future, and we need to be aware that the pessimism of our present thoughts and fears can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. I can assure you from having known God through death that anything that frightens or angers us is not of God. All doom and gloom is the making of man..." An excerpt from A Higher Good

Well, there is the constant improvement of technology and more and more sophisticated technology available to regular people. The Sun, which when it dies we will with it, has approximately 5 billion years left in it. This world has seen nearly a dozen crazy dictators in the last century alone... And so, since you only need one piece of sophisticated technology to fall into the hands of one crazy dictator in the next 5 billion years? Place your bets! Of course, there's the other possibilities of world plague that we create (or a crazy dictator releases), the ozone layer breaks down from our irresponsible actions to the environment, nuclear war between shortsighted world powers, or any number of other apocalyptic scenarios which we either do not realize now or create the means later on which could bring our lives to an abrupt end. Yeah, I unfortunately think we are doomed to die at our own hands. Luckily the odds are in our favor it won't be in our lifetime.
-
No, however western civilisation IS destroying itself.
-
absolutely, we use up today's enerqy the sun gives us (biomass) and that of ancient sunlight (fossil fuels), we have nothing else to turn to...its only a matter of time...the viking age will be here again...and only the strongest will survive!
-
It is possible, but there is no evidence to suggest that we are a race that is supposed to continue on forever.
-
We're off to a damn fine start.
-
we still have time....do your part in saving recourses i hate to say it but...i think-i think so....we still have time to change our ways but the head ppl if the world are dumbasses WE need to change all of us do we need to do stuff like what tiwan did exept better tiwan used to be a pollution hole now they say there gonna be the #1 recycling country in the world. WE ALL NEED TO CHANGE....all of us.
-
If left to its own devices - Yes. But with God all things are possible.
-
well with GLOBAL WARMING, people say yes, but i think that there could be humans on other planets in another galaxy, i mean the solar system revolves around our sun which is just a ordinary star, so around each star thre could be other planets and some could have the right conditions for life, so maybe this planets life could end one day but no one knows whats out there
-
i think so. people are so driven on profit they refuse to realize they are tearing up the air and land, and with melting burning and all the other stuff- were gonna die someday...
-
Take a look around you. Its already destroyed itself...

The way incidents are taking place in the world, what Alex has mentioned might come true. CoolDeep http://problem-n-solution.blogspot.com

We are in a race between our own destruction or our own evolution. If we take the next small step and evolve we can undo the mess we made of this planet. If we de-evolve we can also save ourselves by going backward and living more primitively until we rebuild out societies. During that time the earth will rebuild itself.
-
inevitably
-
Yes but not completely.
-
The Bible says no but that won't keep them from trying anyhow.
-
We're already in pretty deep shit right now, and the future's not looking too bright and sunny, so yeah.
-
