my dad always said to live by 'the golden rule'.......and to learn how to manage money......when I was 10!!! 'save and have' was his mantra......BUT he never really taught my brother and I HOW to do it......you know, like put so much aside from our allowance, etc.......but at least he put the IDEA of money management into our heads!!! and my mom? she always said, 'if you want something, save up & buy it'...this before the days of credit cards! LOL......& she always liked to add......'that's what money is for'...!!! now she was not advocating being a spendthrift, just that there are times in life when you SHOULD spend money on yourself! yay, mom!! LOL.....
