Always - and we have a policy that allows us to do this are report it if we are asked to do something that we believe is against the ethics or values of the business.
-
If I felt it was unethical or immoral, yes. If I felt it was a critical mistake, I would ask the opinion of another employee. If I just didn't agree, no.
-
Job related no, outside the workplace, maybe.
-
Yes , it happens all the time at my place , they're F*****G useless !!
-
Yeah - we have a good understanding of what was and was not in my job description.
-
Of couse I would
-
As a new employee, no. As a long term employee that understands the company's objective... Yes. Respectfully challenging your chain of command - when you are certain that your answer is in the best interest of the company - is necessary for you to grow in responsibility and pay.
-
If it was something that I felt was not in the best inetrest of the company or was legally or morally wrong then yes.
-
welcome
-
absolutely, if i don't feel comfortable with the situation i will politely say, no.
-
Not only would, but have. When asked to falsify some contact reports, I refused and told him if he ever asked me to do anything like that again, the next conversation we had would be with HIS supervisor.
-
Yes, anything illegal, unethical, or that I am not qualified to do.
-
I have and I will again. My defiance led to a change in company policy.
-
Yes, if it was morally or ethically against what I believe in. He may sign my paycheck but he does not own me.
-
I would and I have - and on reflection, he agreed with me.
-
Yes, and I have on more then one occassion. In fact I never had a problem telling a boss off if I needed to either. They knew it and behaved themselves.
-
Yes. As a bartender I refused to serve a pregnant lady alcohol once and got in trouble for it. I was given a talking to about her rights and my job and was told to go back out and serve her if she asked for another (my boss eventually had to give her the drink). She asked for another and a shot and I poured her a glass of milk. I was almost fired.
-
I have and I would again if I disagree with his ideas.
-
Yes, within reason. Bosses are just people with different job descriptions. They are not better or worse than others. They have the same foibles and moods and quirks. I'd respond in the same way as I'd respond with anyone else who was out of line.
-
I have. I knew I was doing it the right way, and the way he wanted me to do it would have been incredibly inefficient, and the job wouldn't have been done as well his way...
-
Depends on the extremity.
-
I would if it crossed an ethical barrier that I know I would not be able to live with myself in a clear conscience if I were to do such an action. Of course there are lots of fine lines to draw and many shades of gray to deal with as well such as how much do I need this job and how long might it take to find another comparable job and if there will be a significant drop in pay as well. But I say do the right thing nad always follow your heart.
-
I have and will do so again. My father taught me that at the end of the day the only thing you have complete control over is your integrity. I will not sacrifice my principals for any employer. There are plenty of other jobs out there.
-
Been there, done that. Now I work for myself. The nuns always used to say I didn't play well with others:)
-
I have, I've never really had a job that meant that much more to me than my own morales. There is always some other way to make a living, but what is the point in making a living if you can't live with yourself?
-
if it was to do with the job then yes as long as it wasnt illegal or will harm me or any1 else!! if i was asked to preform brain surgery (if i was a nurse for instance) id refuse
-
Yes but only because I thought my job was safe enough. If I don't feel it is safe I just get a little passive-aggressive
-
depends on what he asked me to do
