Value of Facebook Polls
An HOA board rescheduled its budget meeting with proper notice for the following week due to illness of the treasurer and another member of the finance committee, who were expected to present the report. This prompted some members to object on Facebook that the new meeting date was too inconvenient, despite being on the same day of the week and time as the original schedule. One Facebook user posted a poll on whether the meeting should be rescheduled again or held as posted, which collected about two dozen objectors and a higher number accepting the new date, but neither amount sufficient to count as a members' quorum. Despite the voracity with which the objection was raised, does the relatively small number of objectors who answered the poll give any credence to the value of Facebook polls to override a valid board decision?

I would think the HOA would have clearly defined rules on the subject that are not affected by FB polls. But I don't belong to an HOA, and probably never would.

mushroom The problem with rules is a double-edged sword. Too many rules and you tie your hands; too few and everyone has their own interpretation.
