I have 7 contempt charges in one trial that says..I have a bad habit of not being capable of stuffing it..LOL :)

It depends on how important I think it is. Usually I'll just stuff it, but if I know I can do something better than how they tell me to do it, I'll speak my mind.

I just stuff it. It doesn't do me any good to argue because i will not win.

That depends on the circumstances. If it is a matter of ethics where I believe the person to be in err then I will say something. But, if it's just a matter of differing opinions on a matter that has no real significance; then, I will just keep it to myself.

You can speak your mind to your boss or anyone else with "the power", diplomacy is the key. Everything is in the voice inflection, body language, etc.

If it's a policeman I will surely stuff it but if it's my boss I fell obligated to say what needs said.

If it's a harmless disagreement, I'll either just ignore it / go along with it, if it's something a bit more controversial I'll usually go with it while still asking for an explanation or something, but if it is something I completely disagree with, I'll stop and speak my mind, or when neccesary, take action against it

I speak my mind. Respectfully. I'd rather appear to have a spine and show that I can stand up for myself than to just hush up and be walked all over.

Unfortunately, if they ask, I will tell them. I have lost two jobs this way. I didn't say anything that all the workers weren't saying to each other, but I was the only one with guts enough to say it. And I was the one who was "Laid off". I can keep quiet. But when asked what I think straight out I expect that they want an answer. They don't. I am still having trouble learning how to deal with this.

If you know you are right, stand your ground. You may be fired, you may be arrested, but at least you have proven your point, but only to yourself. Did i say this?

Speak my mind. That being said it's best to do it with some respect and caution. i.e. a speech on your feelings about the legality of marijuana while getting a ticket(or in the back of a cop car) isn't the smartest and could be used against you. The officer would most likely add a comment in the report about your mumbling confession of marijuana use.

I would never "stuff it" for any reason, so no. I wouldn'd speak my mind either. I would probably just plot the authority's demise, like I do with most situations.

You can always be honest without being offensive. With people in authority, I keep a civil tongue in my head, though that may not stop me from speaking truth if it is necessary.

I speak my mind alot of the time. "Stuffing it" would only result in my, "I should've said..."

Speak my mind but in a way thats firm and to the point but not in an aggressive or condiscending manner, lol unless they deserve it or have spoken to myself in that way :D

I have only 7 people who work for me. I always encourage each of them to come to me with any problem or difference of opinion they may have. I do expect the same respect I would show them. This means, lets not have a show in front of anyone. I think everyone is intitled to speak their mind, using good judgement as to when, is key.

Usually I stuff it, which I hate doing. I have this deep seated irrational fear that if I REALLY spoke my mind, they'd kill me. :/

Tactful, well chosen words are used when I speak my mind. Using the proper vocal tone helps also. Then, having practiced that in front of the 'loo' mirror, I scurry off to work.

I speak my mind, regardless to whom. But man, it can get heated up, when you have two persons of authority, who disagree.

Never ever speak your mind when you're dealing with the authorities. If they speak their mind you're in trouble.

I do it their way, unless there is clearly a better way. Than I would humbly suggest to my leader what I came up with and let him decide if it should be used.

My boss is underqualified for her position of senior director or marketing, yes she has a 'master's in science' which she admitted she had a hard time completing due to lack of study skills; however she has been named head of the marketing department but all her credentials are just a 5 day marketing workshop training out of town. I do not hold a degree yet (still in college) however we're both are the same age 40+. and my major is business and marketing, which gives me more insight of what the nature of the business and the department really are. I hate her snotty attitude over me and I wish I could find the way our Exec. Dir. could separate my department (Web and Publishing) from hers. Any suggestions to start this "separation" in a professional way and without the risk of losing my job?

I am having that problem now. My boss doesn't communicate with me, the VP thinks I am not a good fit (only been there 2 months) and she has sent me to personnel to apply for othe positions. I have some feed back for her now because I disagree with things she's said to me about myself. I have not been treated fairly and need to voice my opinions to her. How do I do it wihtout getting fired? I am interviewing for other positions where I work as she has suggested.
