Anyone drawing attention to it or remarking, including the "culprit," is extremely rude. Everyone is supposed to politely pretend that nothing happened. People who can do such things on command are not covered under etiquette, because such louts are too slovenly to consider. :o) +2

I try not to fart in my own home when people are around. I go to the restroom. True story though, twice in the past month I've gone to another room of my house to fart only to have someone follow me in there and walk right into it!
