Absolutely NOT!!! The movies dont explain whats going on very well at all. New Moon is better but not perfect either.

I got the books and haven't read them yet, and I watch the movie last night for the first time. I thought it was really good! and now I can't wait to read the books. I have been told to always watch the movie first because after reading the book your not like the movie. with and book that is made a movie. So if you watch it first and like it your just like it even more when you read it. :D

for sure, I watched Twilight on video long after the hype (of the first film) died down and before I read the book and I was amazed at how good it was. But the script for the first movie was better than the second and was more appealing visually.

Not unless you're into poorly written, horribly acted, and totally inane tween angst drama.
