Having never seen a "Twilight" movie (nor interested) I am curious about "glitter". What does this mean in the Twilight lexicon?

The pansy "vampires" in Twilight don't burn in the sunlight - they glitter like Kristi Yamaguchi at the Olympics. Apparently they avoid the sun so they don't attract attention to their fabulous selves.

their skin is related to being as hard as diamond, & it apparently shines like one too whenever they step into the sun.
