Each state of the USA has 2 senators representing it, so there are a total of 100 US senators who sit in the US Senate. The Vice-President acts as the casting vote in case of a tie, but is not actually a senator, he has another title in this capacity which I can't remember...

In addition to the 100 national senators, there are also state senators. Not every state has a senate, but I believe most do. I have no clue the total number of state senators.

100 senators. Two per state. There's also another branch which is the House of Representatives which has 435 (I think) representatives per state depending on population.
