No way

As regards to controversy, yes. Elvis and the beatles were well known for their drug use, Jackson's dependence on painkillers only really came to light posthumously. He was, and will continue to be, one of the most unique artists we have been blessed with, but will only be remembered for his drug use and those 'allegations'. It's a damn shame that such a talented artist would go down like this, but would I compare him to Elvis, Mcartney, Hendrix or Morrison? No.
-
In my opinion..yes he is. Look at how famous they all are. Of course he'll be like that too
-
I was not a fan of michael jackson himself, but his music was amazing! he had some talent, and he changed the way some people looked at things i guess, he had an effect on people,, just like Elvis and the Beatles! the way he presented and performed was fantastic!
-
I do, he was an innovator, he knew how to grab the attention of fans in music and in video. His dancing was phenomenal. I believe that he is in the same league, and that is a lot coming from me since I absolutely LOVE the Beatles!
-
Probably yes, although it's too soon after his death to be sure what his effect will be. However I think his lasting effect will be his performances. He didn't just sing, he entertained with some very good dance moves and was one of the first and best in that regard.
-
No I think he is in a class all by himself. Although the Beatles run a close second. Both changed the music world as we knew it before them but I believe Michael Jackson did more than that. He was an incredible entertainer with his dancing as well as his singing. He entertained outside of the box so to speak. Elvis, as much as I am a huge fan, was not in that league at all. He was a great singer with a beautiful voice but not a creator, song writer or innovator. Although we loved what he sang, he did not change music.
-
No. Not in my opinion.
-
No he is in a league of his own.
-
They are all in leagues of their own.
-
The Beatles created much of their own music. That puts them ahead in my book! :)
-
NO, not a chance of that...He is on the freaks of all time list.
-
Looks like it Polly!
-
Nope.
-
Michael Jackson was the greatest entertainer to ever set foot on stage as I've said this here before. He's definately in the same league as well as a league of his own. I mean think about it. How many people can do the moon walk?
-
In the "classical" world of music composition, I believe that the Beatles will fare much better than Elvis and Michael Jackson. There has already been much written about them to this effect. Their compositions are much more interesting theorically. As far as fame, yes, the three are up there at the top, because of their effect on the American culture, each bringing innovative ideas with their own styles.
-
They are all talented artists, how can you compare?
-
Absolutely. He is an icon.
-
Absolutely. I would even say Michael had the greatest natural talent of all those mentioned.
-
He's far bigger than Elvis and far more talented than The Beatles, who to me, are just a glorified boy band. The man is a legend.
-
Yes. Great entertainers who sold millions of records and had millions of fans.
-
Yeah I think he's right up there.
-
I guess, I hate micheal jackson's music but he was a legend as much as I hate to admit it. I never liked the Beatles either. Elvis I respect though
-
1000% those are the big 3 ....
-
Not even close. He is just a child molester and his dance moves that are supposed to be "brilliant", is just him standing still and then jerking his arms and then stopping. He is a great comedian in that he always gets a laugh from everyone I know. It is only those in other countries that like him. Here in the US, he was a embarrassment. . .I put him on the same level as PeeWee Herman.
-
The real answer won't be known until he's been gone for a couple of years.
-
Yes. Beatles were the kings of "Rock And Roll" (now known as alternative) Elvis was the king of "Rock 'n' Roll" MJ was king of Pop.
-
I believe that he WILL be right up there with Elvis, beatles etc ... as he WAS an inspiration and role model to MANY of the popular entainers that we have today .... as far as entertaining and music is concerned .
-
YES!!...atleast!
-
Yes, and Howard Hughes as well as a few others.
-
each of these where the most influential figures in music in their times, very hard to really compare as they each sung and played different types of music and to different generations , yes M.J. is up there .. same as ...maybe
-
Yes.
-
no doubt. Greatest entertainer in my lifetime
-
No I don't. Jackson was an incredibly talented individual. I'd say the same about Elvis. Both talented, charismatic, creative individuals whose true strength was in being consummate entertainers. The Beatles, on the other hand, changed the face of music. Just my opinion. No need for anyone to get his or her panties in a knot. ;)
-
Yes, I think he was more talented overall than either Elvis or the Beatles. He came in third with total CD sales though. I believe he sold 750 million CDs which was less than Elvis and the Beatles.
-
Absolutely. I can barely think of any more artists that are though.
-
No, I think the Beatles, Bing Crosby and Elton John are in a league by themselves! Everyone else comes after!
-
Michael Joseph Jackson... was in a complete league of his own x
