Based on their overall body of work to date I would say Green Day by a mile...MCR just hasn't been around long enough to compare. 18 years vs 6 years

i really don know. Green Day is much more like...more wiser per say with music becaouse theve been around the block more. But MCR is wicked sick. I mean totally awesome. Their guitar and drums and bass and everything just makes me wanna jump around. Green Day is more like soemthing I wanna listent to to get pumped and influenced with my guitar and stuff. They are so close to being equal with me, but MCR just has wicked sick music. So i would say music wise...MCR ...pure awesomeness and nvr ever gonna stop going nuts over...Green Day. Yeah i hope that wasent to confusing. ~JILLIAN~

I don't listen to either anymore, but I've known about Green Day for like EVER and I used to be litterally OBSESSED with them. Thus my childhood love stays with me, and I have to vote Green Day

Green Day has been out longer, and they have more of a history. MCR is just following the fad of just about a dozen other bands just like them. Green Day is original and by far better than MCR.

Okay, honestly speaking: At this point, both have sold out, whether anyone thinks they were or still are good now. Prior to becoming popular, both were much better. If I compared those two at that point, I'd say Green Day was better and had more of an impact, though MCR wasn't bad before they "hit it big," so to speak. Now, one is just as bad as the other. *braces self for ungodly amount of negatives*

My Chemical Romance. I don't know anybody over the mental age of 12 who listens to Green Day. And punk rockers are all at the mental age of 12, so it all works out in the end.

Everyone that's answering this is SUPER biased. WOW. In honesty, I don't think you should compare them because they aren't ANYTHING alike. In any way. Period. Their subject matter, musical genre, style of playing, lifestyles/scenes...NOTHING is similar about them. I'd choose My Chemical Romance. I think they're more creative and I just like them better. But I know less stuff by Green Day anyway.

Those two bands shouldn't even be put into the same sentence together!! Green Day is 100x better than MCR, and they always will be. In my opinion, MCR has absolutely no talent at all. Green Day is the original "modern day" punk, and no other band can compare to them. MCR fans really need to double check their music change, or better, change it!!!

Even though, by time, they can not be compared, I prefer My Chemical Romance, because they change so drastically from album to album that you can't get bored of them. With Green Day, however, I got bored after American Idiot.

Green Day was in my opinion the greatest pop punk band ever. All their work up to American Idiot is sick. Their new stuff kinda sucks. MCR has sucked sense album 1.
